Audio Video Systems Redefines its Home AV Division

Chantilly, VA - December 30, 2007 -- Audio Video Systems, Inc. (AVS), a leading provider of custom audiovisual (A/V) design-build and systems integration services for government and commercial organizations, today announced the restructuring of its residential A/V division.

Formerly known as HomeIT, AVS Home Division (AVS HD) is being restructured to better utilize all of AVS’ resources and make AVS HD even more competitive in the home theater and home AV market. AVS originally purchased HomeIT in 2005 in order to expand its reach to include the residential market.

“Aligning our home division more closely with AVS corporate allows us to take advantage of the expertise, experience and name recognition that AVS has built over 15 years in the federal market,” said Matt Komos, chief operating officer for AVS. This will allow AVS HD to bring down operating costs and take advantage of the many experts that are on staff.

AVS HD recently hired Michael Estrada as Home Division’s Sales Manager to help expand Home Division’s outreach in the Mid-Atlantic market. Estrada recently moved from Austin, TX, where he owned his own company (Capital City Integration) that installed and designed home theaters.

“We think there is great potential for growth in the home theater market in the Washington D.C. metro area,” said Estrada. According to the National Association of Home Builders, 34 percent of homebuilders now offer structured wiring packages, for home networking and audiovisual packages, as standard or optional amenities.

“We try and work closely with local homebuilders to help incorporate A/V, control or home theater systems into the design and construction of new homes,” said Estrada. “This is a much easier way to build a home theater system into a home, rather than having to go in and tear down and rebuild walls, and run new wiring. It’s also more efficient for the resident in the long run.”

Approximately 22 percent of U.S. residents have a home theater system in their homes, according to Parks Associates, a leading market research and consulting firm that provides information and analysis on emerging technologies.

“People are looking to the new technology of today and realizing they want a system that is easy-to-use, and is tailored to their needs,” said Estrada. Residential A/V systems not only incorporate audio and video distribution, but also networking, home automation, lighting control, HVAC, security and more.

AVS HD’s staff is not only trained and certified in many of the top systems of today, but they are also certified as CEDIA experts. CEDIA is an international trade association of companies that specialize in designing and installing electronic systems for the home. CEDIA Members are established and insured businesses with bona fide qualifications and experience in this specialized field.

“We see ourselves as a ‘one stop shop’ for all the residential audio/video, security, networking and home automation technology needs of today,” said Estrada. “We spend a lot of our time meeting our customer’s needs. We want to make sure people understand the technology they are getting, that they know how to use it and that it is making their lives easier.”
